The Telemedicine and Outreach programs at the Cook Hospital have expanded the types of services available to patients. Many of the current specialty services offered were not available to our patients without them driving significant miles. Now patients can reduce the driving time and costs by utilizing the telemedicine or outreach services at the Cook Hospital

Day Surgery (Colonoscopies & EGD’s)

The Cook Hospital has partnered with Scenic Rivers Health Services to offer Colonoscopies and EGD’s at Cook Hospital.  A colonoscopy is a procedure in which your doctor looks through a flexible tube called a Colonoscope for the following reasons:  To visually examine the lining of the rectum and colon/large intestine; to look for bleeding, inflammation, swelling or abnormal tumors or tissue; to take biopsy specimens; to remove polyps; and to treat bleeding sites.  Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) is a test to examine the lining of the esophagus, stomach, and first part of the small intestine.  The procedure uses an endoscope which is a flexible tube with a camera at the end.  EGD may be done if you have symptoms that are new, cannot be explained, or are not responding to treatment.
